Flatbread Pizza, Saving Calories on Cheat Day!

Pizza, it's not American but it might as well be. About 3 billion pizzas are bought every year in the U.S. With this statistic, I'd somewhat assume that Americans enjoy pizza wouldn't you? Well, what does one do when you are on a healthy meal plan? Never have pizza ever again?!?! NO! I want to give you a healthier option if you are just craving pizza. And, in my opinion, this option is much much better than the freezer cardboard box pizzas, and in many instances, my pizza is just as good or better than your run of the mill pizza shop pizza. If you are cutting carbohydrates this is great since it only has 6 net carbs for the crust. So here it goes...

Use Flatout Light wraps (the ones in the purple package or any low carb flatbread) as the crust. Top with your favorite veggies, turkey pepperoni, and sauce, cover in a light layer of mozzarella cheese. Toast in your oven on about 400 degrees until desired crispness for a perfect single serving pizza!

Watch out for store bought pizza sauce. Many times they add unnecessary sugar. Make your own and you know exactly what is in it!

Pizza Sauce

1 can of crushed tomatoes

Basil, oregano, minced garlic, dash of garlic salt, dash of onion powder, black pepper, ground cayenne pepper, splash of lemon juice

Add spices etc... to taste. Mix well and plop a big spoonful onto your flatbread. No simmering needed. It can't get much easier than that!
